This will be a free sample import & programming tool that can also be used to create new instruments and libraries. In the future, IK Multimedia has already announced its plans for a SampleTank Editor. This means it can be used as a standalone application, or loaded up in your DAW as a plugin. SampleTank 4 CS works on both Mac and PC, and is available in VST/AU/AAX versions. This opens doors to disk streaming, FX sends, a master bus, four groove players, and a full mixer with 70 effects. Included as well, is a library of 200 MIDI grooves as well as the full SampleTank 4 engine. Although it is boiled down, its 50 virtual instrument list and sample library were meticulously chosen to cover the basics of all genres. SampleTank 4 CS is pretty stripped down compared to the full, paid option, but it definitely provides users a taste of the full library, and could help them attract future potential buyers. While not necessarily announced because of the seclusion period, it certainly is something that we could all use while we are stuck indoors.
This is now available as a free, stripped down option to its standard SampleTank software, and normally running at $300.
Recently, the company launched its SampleTank 4 Custom Shop (CS), which includes over 4GB of sounds and samples to work with. I personally find IK’s sounds very deep, with the possibility of intervening in a massive way on the samples, moreover they are very usable, especially in contexts that are outside of electronic music (EDM, TRAP, …).In yet another development amidst the isolation we’re all experiencing with COVID-19 virus running about, IK Multimedia has new software to aid our creative endeavors.
Now I no longer have GP crashes, I only pay for the fact that 32GB of ram is no longer enough to load the entire project into memory. It must also be taken into account that on Sample Tank, there is the possibility of having many overlapping or split sounds, where on each of them you can insert up to 4 efx and add another set of efx on the master channel, a workstation really powerful. Now, these plugins, contrary to those of Arturia for example that work for physical models and in which there is a high CPU demand, work mostly on samples, and being of quality, they need a lot of ram. In fact, loading the gig project before using the IK plugins remained about 4GB of free ram for which crashes occurred. At first I also had crash problems with Syntronic and Sample Tank, which were solved by activating the Windows virtual memory.
